Gorilla Baseball Club

Using the Gorilla logo and name

Short version: the mark and the name are protected, and anything public needs a yes from the Head Gorilla first.

The rule

No use of the Gorilla logo, in any form, without approval from the Head Gorilla. That covers the mark itself, any version of it, and anything built around it — a shirt, a sign, a sticker, a graphic for a group chat, a banner for a tournament.

The same goes for the name. If something is going to say “Gorilla” and be shown to anyone outside your own house, it needs to be in our approved font and style, and it needs a yes first. That includes things made with good intentions — a parent designing spirit wear, a player making a poster, anyone putting something together as a surprise.

This is not about being precious. It is about one consistent look representing the program, instead of a dozen different versions floating around that all say something slightly different about who we are.

What this covers

  • Anything printed — shirts, hats, banners, signs, stickers
  • Anything digital — social posts, group chat graphics, a team snapchat filter, a website
  • Anything physical — a car decal, a cake, a sign for a kid’s room
  • Any reproduction of the mark, redrawn, traced, or recreated from scratch

If you are not sure whether something needs approval, assume it does and ask. That is always the safer move, and it takes one message.

What we are trying to avoid

A hand-traced version of the gorilla on a shirt that does not quite match. “Gorillas” instead of “Gorilla.” The name set in a random font because it was the one already open in the design tool. None of that is a big deal on its own. All of it together is how a brand falls apart over a few seasons without anyone deciding it should.

Our name

Always “Gorilla,” never “Gorillas.” Singular, every time, no exceptions. “Go Gorillas” is not our name and should never appear anywhere associated with the program.

Sign-off is “Let’s Go Gorilla” — never “Let’s Go Gorillas.”

Tagline is “Run fast, throw gas, hit bombs.”

Colors

Four colors, nothing else. Black, grey, green, yellow.

Type

DDC Hardware is our font. The name, headlines, anything that represents the program in print or on gear runs in DDC Hardware. That is what makes something read as ours before anyone reads a word.

We also have a script wordmark, built on Boston, used for uniforms and select gear. If you are making something with the script version of the name, it needs to match that mark exactly — not a different script font that looks close.

Barlow and Barlow Condensed are used on the website only — body text and section labels, for readability on a screen. They are not part of the brand for print or gear. Nobody is putting Barlow on a T-shirt.

If you are not using DDC Hardware or the approved script mark, ask before substituting something else. A close-enough font on anything public is one of the fastest ways the brand starts to look inconsistent.

How to get something approved

  1. Tell us what it is and where it is going — a shirt, a post, a banner, whatever it is.
  2. Send a mockup or a draft if you have one. If not, describe it.
  3. Wait for a yes before it gets made, printed, or posted.

Most of the time this is fast. We would much rather say yes to something in a text thread than take down something already printed.

Want to use the logo for something?

Ask first. It is a quick conversation and it protects something the whole program has spent years building.
